I’m not sure if anything is actively in the works, but we’ve been talking about it. I’d absolutely love to reprise my role as Admiral Michael Burnham – she means a lot to me. It’s a bit tricky right now given everything going on, and we’ll have to see what future Star Trek projects come about. But yes, I would definitely do it again, and Alex [Kurtzman] is aware of my interest.

The future of Star Trek is uncertain, though we know a good bit is already finished. Seasons three and four of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and season two of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy are completed and will be released. However, Paramount+ isn’t currently working on any new Star Trek shows beyond those, leaving the long-term future of the franchise in question.

Michael Burnham Might Be Seen Again One Day

Martin-Green hasn’t revealed when, or even if, she’s discussed returning as Burnham. She might appear in the second season of Starfleet Academy, but she’s likely being secretive about it to keep any potential appearance a surprise. Alternatively, conversations could have centered around a possible return in the future, perhaps if the show had been picked up for a third season.

The future of the Star Trek franchise could hinge on the success of its current shows, Strange New Worlds and Starfleet Academy. Season four of Strange New Worlds premieres on Paramount+ on July 23rd, and the fifth and final season is anticipated in 2027, alongside Starfleet Academy. If these seasons don’t perform well, Paramount might not be quick to develop more Star Trek content anytime soon.
