As many of you know, I recently battled bronchitis for six weeks, and then it came back for another five. Even after I was well enough to return to performing at the Westgate in Las Vegas, my doctor wanted to be extra cautious and ordered an MRI. The MRI revealed a small cancerous spot on my left lung that needs to be removed. Thankfully, it was caught early thanks to good luck and a fantastic doctor, and that’s the positive side of things.
The singer of “Mandy” recently had surgery to remove a cancerous growth. Fortunately, it was detected early, so he didn’t require chemotherapy.
Oh my gosh, you guys, he said the doctors don’t think it’s spread! I’m practically glued to the updates, and he’s getting tests just to make sure they’re right, which is amazing. And get this – no chemo, no radiation! Can you believe it? He’s just… resting! He said it’s all about chicken soup and watching ‘I Love Lucy’ reruns. It’s the most perfect, wholesome recovery plan ever, honestly! I’m just so relieved and happy for him!
While recovering from an illness, Barry Manilow had to reschedule his concerts. He announced three months later that doctors had found no sign of cancer.
Barry Manilow recently shared with People magazine that it’s easy to take life for granted until something like a lung cancer diagnosis happens. Despite the diagnosis and treatment – which involved surgery to remove part of his lung – he’s still alive and focused on figuring out his next steps. He acknowledges that while he’s still here, a part of him has been changed by the experience.
