Thankfully, Hugh Campbell did survive and received a satisfying conclusion to his story.

After losing his girlfriend in a tragic incident at the start of the series, Hughie faced immense hardship. Despite everything, he remained a good person and consistently put himself in danger for the right reasons, ultimately helping to defeat Oh Father alongside Mother’s Milk in the final showdown.

After a difficult final battle with Butcher that forced him to kill his friend Hughie, he found some peace and a normal life. He opened his own electronics store and is expecting a baby.

Annie January (Starlight)

Similar to Hughie, the story of The Boys has largely focused on Annie and the difficult experiences she’s faced. Beginning in season one as a hopeful young hero, she quickly discovered the corruption within Vought, which ultimately turned her into a leader in the fight against the company’s wrongdoing.

Even though Starlight’s journey in The Boys had its difficult moments, she consistently strived to do the right thing, making her happy ending with Hughie feel well-deserved. The finale jumped forward in time, revealing she was pregnant after the events of The Deep’s death and Butcher’s funeral, and she and Hughie named their baby Robin.

Despite everything, Annie continued to be a hero, last seen rushing off to prevent a crime – showing she’s still dedicated to helping others even after defeating Homelander. The final scene also subtly revealed her mother is still alive, a character who was part of the original storyline from season one, though she never made an on-screen appearance.

Marvin Milk (MM) & His Family

Throughout most of season 5, it seemed nearly impossible for Mother’s Milk to make it to the end of The Boys. While he remained clever and powerful within the group, his behavior in season 5 showed him taking reckless risks, as if he’d given up on self-preservation, leading many to believe his death was inevitable.

He killed another superpowered individual during the events of “Blood and Bone” and then managed to leave the White House unharmed. Following a visit to Butcher’s gravesite with his friends, he returned to his family, remarried Monique, and appeared to finally achieve the peaceful life he’d always desired, also becoming a father figure to Ryan.

Kimiko Miyashiro

Kimiko was crucial in the season 5 finale of The Boys, playing a central part in the climactic battle. She and Butcher initially faced off against Homelander, and when Ryan entered the fight, Kimiko eventually unleashed her power, neutralizing the abilities of the others and letting Butcher deliver the final blow to Homelander.

Kimiko left the group after a tough fight, offering a farewell to Butcher. Though she was hurt, she decided to start fresh in France, enjoying a solo meal at a café and fondly remembering Frenchie, hinting that she’ll always carry his memory with her.

Though the ending was likely tinged with sadness, Kimiko was one of the few members of The Boys who survived the finale, offering her hope for a brighter future.

Ryan Butcher

Even though he wasn’t introduced until near the end of the first season, Ryan was still a part of The Boys season 1, which is why he’s included here. Being Homelander’s son, Ryan’s story has been incredibly chaotic. His relationships with both Homelander and Butcher constantly changed, leaving him in a difficult spot by the end of the season.

Ultimately, he did the right thing by fighting and helping to defeat the main villain from The Boys. Afterwards, Ryan decided he needed to distance himself from Butcher, but he still paid his respects at his stepfather’s grave before leaving with Mother’s Milk, effectively becoming part of his family.

Although Ryan didn’t defeat Homelander in season five of The Boys, he’s still dealing with a lot, particularly after losing his abilities. It seems like Mother’s Milk is the perfect person to help him, which makes their final scene especially meaningful.

Ashley Barrett

It was surprising to see Ashley survive the finale of The Boys, especially considering she’s been with Vought since the beginning. While she didn’t end up in a perfect situation, the former CEO and President finally took a stand. After years of quietly allowing Vought’s terrible actions, mostly because she was afraid, Ashley helped The Boys get into the White House.

Honestly, after everything went down, I thought that was the last we’d see of her. Then, out of nowhere, she delivered this defiant speech saying she wasn’t going anywhere – only for the news to immediately drop the bombshell that she’d been impeached! Looking back at the absolute whirlwind at Vought, though, Ashley really dodged a bullet. Just getting out alive feels like a win, all things considered.

Stan Edgar

Throughout the series, Stan Edgar faced numerous life-threatening situations, especially given his work with both The Seven and The Boys. Despite all this, he ended the show exactly where he began: firmly in control of Vought. From the very start, Stan was portrayed as a shrewd and fearless character, one of the few who dared to challenge Homelander.

Despite being fired and even jailed by the antagonist, Stan patiently waited for the right moment and ultimately achieved his goals. He subtly hinted at this outcome earlier in season 5 of The Boys, suggesting that capitalism inevitably prevails, and he was uniquely skilled at exploiting that fact.

Whether for good or bad, this self-centered person is back in charge, and Stan is one of the original characters from season one who survived all the way to the end of The Boys, regardless of whether Vought improves under his leadership or stays the same.

Robert Singer

Even though Robert Singer hasn’t been in many scenes of The Boys, his role as the US President makes him a key character, and he’s managed to survive the chaos. While he often seems serious, Singer is generally practical and level-headed, recognizing the threat that unchecked superpowered individuals pose.

Homelander and Sage conspired to oust him from power and had him unjustly arrested, but Singer surprisingly regained the presidency at the end of The Boys. He even made Hughie a job offer, and despite facing a tough task in restoring public confidence, Singer appears determined and ultimately deserved to survive.

Nathan Franklin & His Family

Okay, so with everything that happened with A-Train in season five of The Boys, it’s easy to miss that his brother Nathan and his family actually were in the final season. It’s true they weren’t in the very last scenes, but the last we saw of them, they were still alive – and that’s largely because A-Train made that huge sacrifice for them. It’s a small detail, but it stuck with me!

Though Nathan hasn’t been in many scenes throughout The Boys, he’s played a key role in his brother’s story since the beginning, and was largely responsible for A-Train’s path to redemption. Because of this, the survival of Nathan and his family provides a hopeful conclusion for the Franklins, even after the loss of their superpowered family member.
