One of the boys cruelly commented on Anaia’s burn scars, instantly enraging Racine, who killed him. Racine then killed the other brother, but was knocked unconscious during the fight.
Their father arrives home next. While credited as the Monster in Is God Is, Sterling K. Brown doesn’t immediately appear frightening. He seems normal and collected at first, but his calmness is actually unsettling. He’s strangely relaxed considering the circumstances, even walking past his deceased son to calmly make a sandwich. He acknowledges his older children, greeting Anaia as she hides under the table.
At first, the father claims he only intended to harm their mother, not the children, but his lie is exposed when he attacks Anaia, revealing his true intentions. The actor delivering this performance is exceptional, showcasing some of his finest work to date. Racine eventually recovers and joins forces with her sister, and together they manage to subdue their father, restrain him in a bathtub, and tragically set him on fire.
Racine’s Death And The Birth Of Anaia’s Daughter
It appeared the sisters had succeeded in their plan, but then Racine was suddenly pulled into the fire by her father and perished. Anaia escaped and watched helplessly as the house, and her family inside, burned to the ground. They achieved their revenge, but it came at a devastating price.
Anaia then shares how she later told her daughter stories about her aunt. This heartfelt moment emphasizes what Racine sacrificed when she let anger and revenge consume her. Though their father ultimately died, Racine’s loss of her sister revealed that any sense of triumph she felt was ultimately empty.
