マンダロリアン＆ザ・マンダロリアンGrogu は、スター・ウォーズの世界のおなじみの要素と新鮮で新しいアイデアをうまく融合させています。その代表的な例は、ジャバ・ザ・ハットの息子であるロッタ（声は『ザ・ベア』のジェレミー・アレン・ホワイト）の予期せぬ再登場と、彼がディン・ジャリンを強いる激しい対立である。
最近マンダロリアン＆amp; で再登場する前に、グローグことロッタ・ザ・ハットは、2008 年のクローン・ ウォーズ映画とその後のアニメシリーズで短い役を演じて以来、スター・ウォーズの物語に正式に登場していませんでした。クローン戦争の当時、ロッタはまだ赤ん坊でした。

Fans who’ve followed Star Wars for years will recognize “Dejarik,” the game Lord Janu uses with creatures he’s gathered from across the galaxy. These creatures served as the original models for the famous holographic chess pieces seen in 1977’s A New Hope. The arena itself is designed like a Dejarik board, making it clear that Rotta and Djarin were trapped in a dangerous, real-life version of the game.
49 Years Later, The Mandalorian & Grogu Brings A New Hope’s Holo-Chess To Life
The holographic chess game, Dejarik, has been featured in many Star Wars projects, including The Force Awakens, The Clone Wars, Solo: A Star Wars Story, and The Bad Batch. But its origins go back almost fifty years to A New Hope, where Chewbacca and R2-D2 famously played it aboard the Millennium Falcon.
Dejarik is a popular game seen throughout the Star Wars universe, and you can even buy a playable version at Galaxy’s Edge in Disney parks. It comes with official rules and all the creature pieces you need. Two players take turns attacking and moving pieces until only one player’s creature remains on the board, making them the winner.
The series The Mandalorian & Grogu brings several creatures to life on screen for the first time. These include the Ghhhk, Grimtaash, the tiny Houjix (which stuns prey with electricity), the large club-wielding Kintan Strider, the K’lor’slug, the Monnok (who uses a staff), and the enormous Mantellian Savrip. A particularly memorable scene shows the Savrip lifting and slamming a Kintan Strider, mirroring a move Chewbacca used against both R2-D2 in A New Hope and Tobias Beckett in Solo.
As a huge Star Wars fan, I loved the Dejarik scene in The Mandalorian & Grogu! It starts out as a playful game between Din Djarin and Rotta, but things quickly get chaotic when the creatures break free and run wild through Shakari. Honestly, it’s a fantastic action sequence, and what I really appreciated was how it cleverly tied everything together – from the original Star Wars movie with its iconic holographic game, all the way to this new adventure. It felt like a perfect full-circle moment!
The Mandalorian & Grogu is now playing in theaters from Lucasfilm.
