Warner Bros. and DC Studios have announced a new project that will show an early confrontation between Superman and the villain Darkseid. David Corenswet, who will play Superman, is also set to appear in the 2026 film Supergirl, alongside Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El. Before that, fans will get a glimpse of this new version of Superman later this year for Superman Day, where he’ll be battling Darkseid in a dangerous showdown.
On Superman Day, April 18th, Warner Bros. Discovery Global Experiences and DC Studios revealed Superman Experience: Defenders Unite. This immersive attraction lets fans team up with Superman, Supergirl, and Krypto to face a dangerous worldwide threat caused by a powerful object.
Guests at the new interactive adventure will join Superman, played by David Corenswet, in an original story for the Defenders Unite attraction. He’ll give them Kryptonian powers and ask for their help with an important mission. Through a simulation, guests will experience what it’s like to fly with Superman and even train with him on the Kent farm.
The adventure will end with an epic fight against Darkseid, a powerful villain similar to Thanos. Guests will have to use the skills they’ve learned to team up with Superman and defeat him. Supergirl is likely to join the battle too, based on her appearance in promotional materials.
Visitors can explore the Fortress of Solitude, meet Robot #4 (also known as Gary) from the Superman movies, and even trigger the Fortress’s activation during the Chaos Crystal experience.
The Chaos Crystal is a remarkably powerful object with connections to Darkseid, capable of affecting multiple universes. Darkseid’s forces once used it to power a huge weapon, and it’s believed to be a relic originating from the Sphere of the Gods, capable of granting wishes.
Starting on Saturday, April 18th, you can experience the adventure at Stage 5 on the Warner Bros. Studios lot. “Defenders Unite” will use cutting-edge technology – like advanced motion capture, 3D glasses, and high-quality sound – to immerse you in Superman’s latest story.
When Will Darkseid Make His Debut In James Gunn’s DCU?
Darkseid is likely to appear in the DC Universe very soon, largely because DC Studios is developing the Mister Miracle series.
James Gunn, co-CEO of DC Studios, has confirmed that this animated series is officially part of the main DC Universe (DCU). The show’s creator, Tom King, also shared that Darkseid, who is Mister Miracle’s adoptive father, will be a key character in the story. However, Gunn clarified that Darkseid won’t be the primary villain in the first phase of the DCU, known as Gods and Monsters, suggesting he could become a bigger threat later on.
Although Mister Miracle is likely to build up to Darkseid appearing in future DC movies, the Superman Experience: Defenders Unite ride already gives fans a good idea of what a battle between David Corenswet’s Superman and Darkseid might look like.
As a big fan, I’m really excited to see Supergirl involved in this new storyline! It looks like she’ll be teaming up with Superman to fight Darkseid, which is a neat echo of the animated movie Superman/Batman: Apocalypse from 2010. Remember how Darkseid tried to get Kara to join his Female Furies? It’s cool they’re bringing that element back – it adds some great history to their conflict!
