Stranger Things Finale: Jamie Campbell Bower Hints at Key Vecna & Will Scene

Jamie Campbell Bower, who plays Vecna/Henry Creel, recently spoke with ScreenRant about the upcoming finale of Stranger Things, set to release on New Year’s Eve. With so many big reveals in the second part of season 5, fans are left with plenty of unanswered questions heading into the final episodes.

One of the biggest questions now is what will happen between Vecna and Will Byers, especially since the show has been highlighting their connection. The latest episodes even showed them fighting for control of Vecna’s body, really emphasizing how linked they are to each other.

I’m really curious to hear what you think when you finally see it. You mentioned feeling sorry for Henry, and I think Will is heading down a similar road, just in a different way. Did you notice that connection between the two characters?

Okay, so let’s talk about the chemistry between these two characters. I was asked if there’s an emotional connection, and honestly, the answer is a resounding yes. It’s definitely there, and it really shines through. I can confirm that, without a doubt.

Okay, so there’s this really powerful scene in Stranger Things – it’s Will’s coming out moment in Season 5, Episode 7. Noah Schapp actually wasn’t filming that day, which is wild, but the whole reason Will finally tells everyone he’s gay is because of Vecna! Basically, Vecna had been messing with Will’s head, and those visions were what pushed him to finally open up to his friends and family. It’s a really impactful connection, knowing Vecna was indirectly responsible for such a brave moment.

What’s most striking about Bower’s statements is that they continue to suggest we should feel sympathy for Henry Creel. He’s made similar points before, and other actors from Stranger Things have also expressed feeling sorry for the character.

As a huge Stranger Things fan, I’ve always felt there was something more to Henry/One/Vecna, and even Noah Schnapp, who plays Will, has hinted at it! It turns out the new stage play, The First Shadow, actually starts to explain things. They revealed that Henry was infected by the Mind Flayer way back when, which really changes how you see his whole story and makes him a lot more tragic than just a simple villain who kidnaps kids and breaks bones.

Recent statements from Bower suggest viewers are beginning to grasp the full story of Henry, which is making him a more relatable character as the finale approaches. It’s especially noteworthy that this information is coming to light in relation to Will.

As a huge fan, I’m starting to think the finale might reveal Henry was just as controlled by the Mind Flayer as Will was. If that’s true, it would really complicate things – and make him less of a straightforward villain. It would also explain all those hints throughout the season about feeling sorry for him, or seeing him as a misunderstood character. Suddenly, those comments would click and make a lot more sense.

The final episode of Stranger Things is a little over two hours long, which doesn’t leave much time to completely change the direction of the villain’s story. However, Jamie Campbell Bower, who plays Vecna, has promised that the show will explain the mysteries surrounding his character.
